Home > Voice Over IP > Advantages Of VoIP What Are The Advantages Of VoIP?The primary advantage of VoIP service is the low cost. For one monthly fee, you can make an unlimited amount of both local and long distance phone calls anywhere in the U.S. and Canada. In addition, your international calls will be charged at a very low per-minute rate. VoIP providers are going to vary in their costs, features and coverage area, but in general, it is much cheaper to make long distance calls using VoIP than it is through your standard analog phone line or with a cell phone. Another major benefit is that of portability. You can actually take your VoIP phone and adapter with you to other locations and as long as you have access to a broadband Internet connection, you can use your VoIP phone service on it. Customers can simply take their VoIP phone with them on a long trip or vacation and be able to answer their regular phone number using a broadband Internet connection no matter where they may go. The next major advantage of VoIP services is that they will include most of the features that you would normally have to pay extra for. These calling features will typically include the most popular ones, such as call waiting, caller ID, three-way calling, call forwarding, and others. In most cases, VoIP providers bundle these services in with their standard unlimited calling plans at no extra charge. The final real advantage is that VoIP technology enables advanced features that just aren't available using an analog phone line. Some examples would be a personal account manager, location services, automatic call screening, advanced voice mailbox, and other features which take advantage of your broadband connection to the Internet. These extra, advanced features will vary greatly from provider to provider.
