Skyway USA - Cheap Satellite Internet

With prices that start at $29.95 per month, Skyway USA provides rural Americans with an alternative for cheap satellite Internet service. Skyway is a "one-way" satellite Internet provider, unlike HughesNet or Wildblue, providing the cheapest satellite Internet service available to rural portions of the United States.

The Cheapest Satellite Internet Service Plans

With four plans to choose from, Skyway Internet allows you to pay lower monthly prices if you don't require the fastest speeds. Their cheapest plan is still going to be much faster than dialup, and their fastest plan has download speeds up to 1.5 Mbps. The equipment and start up fees with Skyway USA are about as cheap as you are going to find from any satellite Internet service provider.

  • Bronze Plan - Only $29.95/mo. - Download speeds up to 256 Kbps.
  • Silver Plan - $49.95/mo. - Download speeds up to 512 Kbps.
  • Gold Plan - $59.95/mo. - Download speeds up to 768 Kbps.
  • Platinum Plan - $79.95/mo. - Download speeds up to 1.5 Mbps.

Basic dial up Internet access is included with all of Skyway's plans and it should be noted that you will need to be connected with dialup service in order to use Skyway. The service can be self-installed once the equipment arrives, which further lowers the cost of getting and using Skyway Satellite Internet service. Professional installation is available at additional cost for those who don't want to install the satellite dish themselves.

There is a big difference in how Skyway sends and receives Internet data and how other "two-way" satellite services operate. With Skyway, when you send out an information request to the Internet, data goes out through your dialup to Skyway's servers. From there, data is sent to the satellite and then down to you -- one way.

With two-way services, such as HughesNet and Wildblue, you send a request from your satellite modem up to the satellite and then down to the provider's servers. The response will come back to you by the same path -- two way. The general consensus of experts on satellite Internet service is that “two-way” is faster than “one-way”, however under some circumstances “one-way” can be more reliable.

Skyway USA is definately the cheapest Satellite Internet provider in the U.S., but most people still prefer two-way providers such as Wildblue and HughesNet.
