Cox High Speed Internet

With over six million subscribers, Cox is one of the largest cable Internet providers in the United States. Cox provides high speed Internet access averaging from 1.5 Mbps up to 12 Mbps. You can also bundle the service with Cox digital TV and/or digital phone.

Recently, Cox has improved their cable Internet offering with PowerBoost™, a technology licensed from Comcast. With a PowerBoost™ enabled account, Cox customers can enjoy download speeds of up to 12 Mbps, which is much faster than what DSL provides.

Multiple Plans At Different Prices & Speeds

It's good to see a cable provider that gives you the option of several plans at different prices. For those who use the Internet casually, stick with the Economy or Value plans to save yourself some money. For the power users, there are the Premier and Preferred plans that both include PowerBoost™. It's important to note that the special Internet-only price is for a Premier plan with speeds up to 12 Mbps. You can reach faster speeds with the Preferred plan, but those speeds aren't available in all service areas yet.

Cox competes with Verizon and AT&T for Internet subscribers, but you will find that the speeds of Cox's cable Internet service far exceed the fastest available DSL connections you can get from either of those companies. To equal Cox's top speeds of up to 20 Mbps, you would have to look into fiber optic Internet connections, such as FiOS or U-Verse, which can get a little pricey. And since Cox offers an affordable Economy plan with at least 768 Kbps download speeds, even budget users can choose Cox over DSL and still end up saving a little money.
